Match report Facing unbeaten Fives A, Chingford B bowled first. They had a couple of good openers who got them off to a good start. Fletcher and Rhone's economy rate suffering as a consequence. With both batters retiring, we were able to contain the middle order a little better. However, with no pressure on them, the rest of their batting chanced their arm and came off. We didn't bowl or field that badly but a total of 159 was always going to be beyond us.
If we were going to get a decent score, Patel and Shawyer needed to get 25s. Neither did, after a steady start, both fell, Patel caught behind and Shawyer trying to work the slow bowler to leg. In almost no time. our position disintegrated when Rhone misdrove and Peters fell as a result of a run out mix up with Fletcher. Fletcher, lacking runs indoors still bats at No5 with Thorne in the side. However, with plenty of time to bat and no pressure on them, theset two batted with increasing confidence. Fletcher successfully hit straight but perished with this tactic. Thorne left to bat alone also opened his shoulders and ensured that Chingford finished the game on a positive note. Player of the Match - Stephen Thorne: Top scorer and most economical bowler speaks for itself. In the context of the match, his batting was unimportant. However, the side will be more confident knowing that runs can come from the lower order.
