Match report The opening day of the league season between Harlow and Chingford at The Marigolds ended up being a wash out with both teams taking 6 points a piece under the new abandoned match rules. Chingford openers James Runciman and Richard Alston made a typically solid start after Chingford were put in to bat easing their way to a hundred stand for the first wicket. An hour was lost to rain and seemed to affect the openers rhythm as they both quickly departed to Stone at the restart but Piper and Hales put on a thoroughly professional unbeaten stand of 92 for the third wicket to give Chingford a total of 200-2 off 44 overs. With the outfield being so slow due to the rain their score was undoubtedly worth a lot more and Chingford went into the tea break very happy with their work.
However after two very close shouts from Pipers impressive first over the rain came back for good.
