Match report With no A Team fixture, a sizeable 'crowd' turned up to watch the B Team's Middlesex Federation Shield fixture. Played to the same rules as the Chess Valley League matches with the addition of inner circle disks, West Harrow's score looked about par for the course. They had to be thankful to one particular bat who made about half their score.
Chasing after tea, Chingford were immediately confronted by a mature asian fast bowler called Amir. Logsy in the scorebox thought he was one of the quickest things he had seen at Chingford this season. Much of the 'crowd' thought that he should have been playing for West Harrow As that day. Nasser and David Joslin were not about to disagree as they made their way back to the pavillion early on. This Amir chappy was difficult to get away but a partnership between Joyce and Fernandopulle re-built the innings. The confident batting from Joyce in particular giving Chingford optimism. However, he through away our good position by running himself out. The crowd was enhanced by the arrival of Richard Alston, who immediatley informed everyone that this amir chappy not only opened the bowling for Pakistan but played a few matches for Chingford. He was surprised that Logsy in the scorebox had not recognised him as he had kept wicket to him. Shawyer and Fletcher were nerdling well and at the time that we needed to accelerate the scoring in the final overs, Shawyer got out. Chingford were always a bit too much behind the clock but to get within 7 runs was a splendid achievement.
